Alfa Series Petroprime® 100
Petrokem PetroPrime® 100 is a two component, high quality universal anticorrosive primer developed to meet the increasing demand for high quality anticorrosive primer. The product is a combination of high quality epoxy Base and polyamide Activator. It is recommended for the protection and maintenance of all metal structures in civil engineering applications, storage/ballast tanks, ship hulls, decks, metal pipe lines, Cargo oil tanks, bridges, off shore structures, radial gates, chemical plants, oil installations etc. The product should be applied immediately after the cleaning process of the metal. The product acts as a high quality anticorrosive primer for all metals such as steel, aluminum, zinc, copper, etc. The product will protect the surface against highly corrosive elements such as chemical fumes, acid fumes etc. Petrokem PetroPrime® 100 is also resistant to salty sea spray and therefore is recommended for coastal areas. The product has excellent recoatability. It is essential to overcoat the surface with Petrokem PetroCover® 240 for best results.
- Mix thoroughly 2 volumes of Petrokem PetroPrime® 100 Base and 1 volume of Petrokem PetroPrime® 100 Activator. Five minutes of thorough mixing is recommended. Use Petrokem epoxy thinner 221 if required. (Adding too much thinner will reduce the DFT and slow the curing time. Thinner should be added after mixing the 2 components) Use the mixture within 1 hour.
- Apply the mixture to the surface by using suitable spray equipment (at 40-60psi) or brush/roller. The primer should be applied to the bare metal for anticorrosive protection and for best results.
- Approximately 9 – 11.5 m² per 1 litre pack
